A minimum 5 years full time equivalent of professional practice experience is required. To ensure currency, the 5 years must have been within the previous 10 years.
It is expected that the applicant can demonstrate a professional role engaged in a range of different situations and involving a variety of contamination issues over the 5 years. It is unlikely (for example) that an applicant with experience in a research only role will be able to develop and demonstrate the required professional practice experience.
Certification is awarded to professionals who have the ability to independently manage the full scope of a contaminated site project.
To ensure that applicants have the appropriate experience to fulfil this requirement, at least 3 years of the 5 years of experience in the field is needed undertaking roles with direct responsibility for recommendations or actions dealing with contaminated sites.
